Micro-needling vs. Radio Frequency (RF) Micro-needling?
Micro-needling is a great treatment to rejuvenate the skin – learn the differences between traditional Micro-needling and RF Micro-needling in this ReJUVU Day Spa Blog.
Micro-needling and Radio Frequency Micro-needling
None of us gets to escape the aging process. At some point, we will each have to deal with those pesky fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, many of us must contend with the acne scars of our youth, as well as uneven skin texture, and/or hyperpigmentation.
Micro-needling and Radio Frequency (RF) Micro-needling are excellent solutions in both the prevention and correction of these challenges. Though Micro-needling and RF micro-needling are based on the same principles, there is a significant difference that makes one of the two procedures more beneficial than the other for your specific skin goals. Whether for prevention or correction, here’s what you need to know.
Micro-needling
Often called collagen induction therapy, micro-needling is a non-invasive, safe, and very effective cosmetic procedure that can give you fantastic results by triggering the natural healing process of your skin.
Micro-needling is a skin rejuvenation procedure based on triggering the skin’s natural healing process. During the micro-needling procedure, a micro-needling “pen” tooled with surgical steel needles, is used to create tiny punctures in the skin. The creation of these punctures stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. In addition to using needles made from surgical steel, at ReJUVU Day Spa, we have the ability to control the depth of the needles based on the needs of each guest.
What are Collagen and Elastin?
Collagen and Elastin are our bodies two most powerful healing properties and are responsible for keeping skin healthy, youthful, and tight.
Our production of these properties begins to decline at a rate of approximately 1% each year beginning at the age of 20. With this decline of collagen and elastin production it takes our skin longer to heal and we lose that wonderful elasticity that our skin once had. While the natural production of elastin and collagen slows down as we age, the micro-needling process can give our skin a much-needed boost through the stimulation of the bodies response to produce these healing properties.
Collagen is responsible for plumping our skin and helps to minimize fine lines and wrinkles and areas of scarring (most especially acne scars and stretch marks) Yep! Micro-needling can be performed on the body as well as the face! While the collagen is busy plumping our skin the elastin is hard at work renewing the elasticity that gives skin that soft supple feel and look.
Radio Frequency Microneedling
Radio Frequency (RF) micro-needling is similar to traditional micro-needling though it does have one significant difference. Radio Frequency.
What is Radio Frequency?
In a nutshell radio frequency is the use of energy waves. For the purposes of microneedling, radio frequency is incorporated with micro-needling to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin (the dermis).
The radio frequency enhances the effectiveness of micro-needling and is perfect for those looking for more correction than prevention. RF micro-needling is also optimal for those who are looking for skin texture and scarring correction.
